Methods born from innovation and efforts resulting in improved access to health services, educational programs and livelihood and opportunities, The Desai Foundation is a globally- recognized non-profit organization, aimed at improving the lives of women and girls in India and the U.S. through community programming. Taking a local, community-based approach, the organization has developed over 30 programs that focuses on cultivating the dignity of more than 3 million individuals so that the people can dream beyond their circumstances. The programs designed by the organization are sustainable, and are designed by the communities they serve in Seven States in India Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Odisha.
In the over 1,800 rural communities, they develop programs like several health camps, vocational training programs, entrepreneurial programs, creative learning programs, hygiene programs and our flagship, Asani Sanitary Napkin Program, which combats menstrual equity. The organization has been operating on the ground for over 20 years and has both full subsidiaries in India as The Desai Foundation Trust & in the United States – The Desai Foundation.
The organization empowers women and children through community programs to elevate health and livelihood in India & U.S. Their focus area remains promoting health, Education and livelihood, particularly for those who are both traditionally underserved and powerful agents of social change: women and children. Working with the existing strengths of a community, The Desai Foundation focuses on providing a healthy life, the dignity of a job, and the fulfillment of an education.
The Foundation pays special attention and are focused towards the betterment of Health, Education and Livelihood generation. Their flagship Asani Sanitary Napkin Program is designed By Women for Women
ASANI Sanitary napkins and are an in-house production of The Desai Foundation Trust, intended to make the lives of rural women easier. This initiative aims to enable rural women with livelihood, health and education, all of these mission statements implemented simultaneously through this one project. It is a product that is made by these rural women, sold by them, for rural women making numerous communities self-sufficient. Their special project – HEROES FOR HUMANITY is a project in collaboration with Hinduja which is currently functional across 7 states of India namely in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Tamil Nadu. The main aim of this project was to provide livelihood to over 500 unemployed rural individuals who had faced loss due to the pandemic.
