The President of India, Droupadi Murmu has appointed Narendra Modi as the next Prime Minister after the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) submitted letters of support. The NDA unanimously chose Modi for the role of Prime Minister, head of the NDA, and leader of the Lok Sabha through a resolution passed at the parliamentary party meeting.
The President also asked for his suggestion on the swearing-in date, which is scheduled for 9th June at 7:15 pm. The new government is expected to call a Parliament session within a fortnight of the ceremony.
Shri Narendra Modi, after meeting the President assured the nation that his continued dedication to fulfilling the country’s aspirations. He mentioned that the experience that he gained from his two previous terms would ease efforts in the upcoming five years. At the NDA parliamentary meetings, senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh praised Modi’s global recognition and commitment, emphasizing that he is the most suitable candidate for the roles assigned. This appointment marks the first time since 1962 that a Prime Minister has been elected for a third consecutive term.
Former BJP presidents Mr. Amit Shah and Mr. Nitin Gadkari seconded the motion, with endorsement from NDA partners including N Chandrababu Naidu, Nitish Kumar, Eknath Shinde, and others. Modi emphasized unanimity in the government decisions, praising the NDA’s commitment to the principle of “Sarv Pantha Sambhava” (all sects are equal) and describing it as the most successful alliance in India’s history, poised for its fourth term.
Coalition partners lauded Modi’s leadership, with Naidu highlighting India’s global prominence and Nitish Kumar expressing confidence in the NDA’s future achievements.
