THE SUCCESS STORY OF Mrs. HIMA DOSHI- Nurturing Compassionate and Confident Learners
Some leaders don’t just run institutions—they transform them. Mrs. Hima Doshi is one such visionary, redefining education with her indomitable spirit, resilience, and passion. With a career spanning over three decades, she has revolutionized Ajmera Global School (AGS), fostering an environment where excellence thrives.
Her ascent from a student of a vernacular school to the visionary Head of Ajmera Global School (AGS) is a narrative etched in resilience. Armed with academic brilliance— Master’s in Counselling Psychology, Bachelor of Education, double gold medals in D.Ed. and Vocational Guidance—she joined AGS in 2008 as a counselor. Her sharp acumen and deep commitment to education swiftly propelled her to Executive Coordinator, then Principal, and by 2015, she was at the helm as Head of Schools, overseeing IB-PYP, IGCSE, ICSE, and SSC curricula.
Under her leadership, AGS has grown into an institution synonymous with excellence. Her commitment to academic excellence was tested when she stood against a flawed policy that threatened academic integrity. Despite repeated counseling, a student’s persistent failures led to his detention in Grade 8. His parents, citing the RTE Act, of 2009, challenged the decision in court.
Many would have conceded, but not her. Refusing to let complacency erode education, she fought a grueling legal battle. Her courage and conviction triumphed—the court ruled in the school’s favor, setting a precedent that led to the RTE Amendment Act, of 2019, allowing states to detain failing students.
Following this landmark ruling, the central government abolished the no-detention policy across Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, Sainik Schools, and 3,000 other centrally governed institutions, including international schools. Additionally, 50% of states and union territories scrapped the policy, marking a pivotal shift in India’s education framework. Her unwavering resolve not only upheld AGS’s standards but also reshaped national education policy.
She remains deeply invested in what truly matters—empowering students to dream, achieve, and lead with integrity. She is shaping a generation that dares to make a positive difference.
