Mrs. Aparna Guhan Shyam: Championing Health Equity for All Children
Mrs. Aparna Guhan Shyam founded Tiara Kids in 2012 with a passionate vision to support children with life-threatening conditions. At just 24, she transformed her childhood dream into reality by establishing an organization dedicated to helping children with Haemophilia and Cancer. With a Master’s in Management from London and a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Liverpool, Aparna leveraged her education and vision to make a significant impact.
Under her leadership, Tiara Kids has expanded its mission far beyond its initial focus. Today, it collaborates with 15 prestigious hospitals across Chennai, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, Trichy, and Madurai, providing over 1,000 children from disadvantaged backgrounds access to top-notch healthcare.
A landmark achievement of Tiara Kids is the launch of the VHS-Samhita project in 2023, a multidisciplinary rehabilitation center in partnership with the Center for Excellence of Rare Disorders at Voluntary Health Services in Chennai. This center offers comprehensive care for children with developmental delays and disabilities, focusing particularly on those from low socio-economic backgrounds.
Her unwavering commitment to health equity has made Tiara Kids a beacon of hope for many families. Her work is driven by a fundamental belief that every child, regardless of their background, deserves access to quality healthcare. Through strategic partnerships and evidence-based initiatives, Tiara Kids under the leadership of Aparna is actively working to build a brighter and more inclusive future for children across India.
