“Mr. Gaurav Arora, Machine Learning Engineer, Jio Haptik”
Mr. Gaurav Arora is a Machine Learning Engineer at Jio Haptik working on fundamental Conversational Artificial Intelligence (AI) problems. He is the creator of open source iNLTK library which provides out of the box support for various NLP tasks, for low resource 13 Indic Languages. The library has more than 50,000 downloads, 600 stars and 100 forks on GitHub. His research paper on the iNLTK library was accepted at the EMNLP 2020’s NLP-OSS workshop. His work on iNLTK library has been appreciated by AI Leaders like Jeremy Howard, Sebastian Ruder and others.
At Jio Haptik, Gaurav has built the Intent Detection System for Haptik’s Natural Language Understanding (NLU) Engine, which is 25% more accurate than their previous system, owning it from Research to Production. He along with his team published a paper at EMNLP 2020’s Insights workshop benchmarking Haptik’s performance against industry leaders like Google’s Dialogflow, Microsoft’s LUIS, RASA. The paper also highlighted gaps in current NLU systems by introducing a new benchmark for Intent Detection.
In addition to EMNLP, Gaurav has also authored research papers which have been accepted at EACL-2021 and FIRE-2020. He’s interested in the applications of Machine Learning to solve problems which will impact millions and keeps making open source contributions towards it.
