Mr. Bharat Jagmohan Mehra- The Man with a Golden Heart
Mr. Bharat Jagmohan Mehra, a renowned Social Worker, Philanthropist, Astromancer and Entrepreneur, has been committed towards welfare of backward communities for the past 25 years. He is the chairman of nonprofit organizations – Radha Meera Charitable Trust and Krishnakali Mandir Trust, Neral, Maharashtra and all the services are offered at no cost to the underprivileged communities. He envisions to “connect and enable people to end the cycle of poverty and hunger by building healthy, sustainable communities and empowering them to be self-reliant.”, in alignment with the SDGs and towards actualizing our Prime Minister’s dream – Saab Ka Saath, Saab Ka Vikas, Saab Ka Vishwas.
Mr. Mehra has been supporting, mentoring and transforming numerous lives, guiding them socially, professionally and spiritually and his notable contributions towards eradication of hunger, education, healthcare, women empowerment, skill development and employment, and combating covid -19 stand remarkable. Beginning his career at a very tender age of 19, from a low- paid job of courier boy, he overcame every challenge using them as a springboard of opportunities. The Radha Meera Trust is actively working in various villages and hamlets like Komalwadi, Karkarwadi, Morewadi, Karkulwadi, Phansswadi, Damatwadi, Takachiwadi, Chinchwadwadi, thathethiwadi and many more in Raigad district. The various projects of the trust bring respite to 60,000 households in Neral and its surroundings.
He started the Community Food Services envisioning “No one should remain hungry.” The Community kitchen – Prasadalaya provides healthy and nutritious meals to approximate 2000 villagers on a daily basis. The mobile van of the trust distributes food packet to tribes/villagers on daily basis in the interior areas. The trust is actively involved in providing basic necessities and essentials household commodities to the marginalized section. More than 50000 packets of various commodities are being distributed every year. The villagers are able to save upto Rs. 2000 monthly and are able to utilize these savings for their children’s’ higher education, for small businesses, house works, purchase 2 wheelers and other necessities which reduced the social strains, social evils with more focus on harmonious families.
Mr. Mehra also began health care initiative – Swasth. He established medical facilities like emergency ambulance services, pathology lab providing health and diagnostic services, 24 x 7 medical store and clinical consultation centre.
The trust provides a holistic approach over 4 key verticals with meaningful impacts – Food Security and safe drinking water, Education, Healthcare benefits and Economic Development. His future plan is to expand the reach deeper in the interiors of Maharashtra and build old age homes for senior citizens, educational centers and healthcare centers for the economically backward communities. During his journey as Philanthropist over 2 decades, he has supported more than 25,000 destitute in addition to the impact created by his charitable trust. Bharat Mehra firmly believes that a strong foundation is always built on trust and that a beautiful human experience only requires an open mind and a generous heart.
