Indorama Corporation, a titan in the chemical industry, was established in 1975 by its current Chairman, Mr. S P Lohia, and his father, Mr. M.L. Lohia. With Mr. Amit Lohia serving as the Vice-Chairman, the corporation has evolved into one of Asia’s foremost chemical companies.
The company’s journey began with Indorama Synthetics in Indonesia, originally a cotton yarn spinning enterprise. In 1991, it embarked on a transformative path, diversifying into the production of polyester fibers from petrochemical derivatives and later into PET resins.
Today, headquartered in Singapore, Indorama Corporation is a diversified manufacturer, producing an array of products that include nitrogen fertilizers, phosphate fertilizers, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester, textiles, cotton fiber, and medical gloves. Notably, it holds the distinction of being the largest producer of urea and phosphate fertilizers in Sub-Saharan Africa, the leading producer of polyolefins in West Africa, and the world’s third-largest producer of synthetic gloves. Additionally, it integrates the production of cotton and synthetic spun yarns, employing a global workforce exceeding 20,000 individuals.
One of its stellar units, Indorama India Private Limited’s Jagdishpur facility, was honored with the prestigious International Achievers Award in Dubai. Located in the Amethi District of Uttar Pradesh, this unit specializes in producing UREA under the ‘Shaktiman’ brand and customized fertilizers. Moreover, the corporation’s commitment extends beyond business success. Their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives span five core areas: Education, Health, Infrastructure, Sustainable Livelihood, and Social Causes, impacting over 100 villages and nearly 4.00 lakh people.
