Achiever's Success Story
As a Former Civil Servant, Dr. Nadadur with his past experience in serving people and the society, continues to undertake Humanitarian activities
After completing an eventful career of over three decades in the Indian Administrative Services, Dr. R G. Nadadur, while serving in the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), co-founded the Environment Association of Bangalore (EAB), along with Dr. K Kasturirangan, who was the then Chairman of ISRO.
Dr. Nadadur started his association with EAB during his service and post his retirement, he became the President of EAB. The activities of EAB have increased considerably under the stewardship of Dr. Nadadur and his team of Directors. When the Covid-19 Pandemic hit the world in 2020, Dr. Nadadur volunteered himself as a Corona Warrior. He was also made Member of a Task Force constituted by the Chief Minister of Karnataka. After seeing the plight of some migrant worker families in Bengaluru, it was his decision that was instrumental in EAB taking up its first Humanitarian Project. Nearly Rs 1,500,000 was mobilized and kits containing food-grains, oil, spices, toiletries and medicines were given to those families.
It was during this pandemic that Dr. Nadadur found out that there was an alarming drop-out situation of girls at the high school level in Government Schools and the reason being lack of water in the toilets. EAB took up Rain Water Harvesting (RWH) works in some Government Schools and completed the RWH works and decided that there should be a dependable supply of water. Water supply connections were given to the schools from the water supply system of the local civic body. Where this was not possible, borewells or open wells were drilled and water supply assured to the schools.
Dr. Nadadur says he is grateful for the support of his family and acknowledges the support of his team of Directors and Life Members, especially, Colonel C M Uthaiah, Mr. C V Thirumalarao, Mrs. Seema Ramesh, Mr. N E Kumaraswamy and Mr. V Bhaskar Murthy. He is also deeply appreciative of the support of five major partners – Mr. K M Subbaiah and Oxford English School, Devanahalli; Mrs. Usha Shetty and Gramaantara Trust, Bengaluru; Mrs. Janet Yegneswaran and Reforest India, Bengaluru; Mr. U Moorthy and Sree Universal Enterprises, Bengaluru and Graama Panchayats.
