Woman Of Excellence Award

Women impact the world at all levels – as farmers, workers, consumers, household managers, activists, leaders, and entrepreneurs. They have been making significant contributions in several fields such as agricultural labor force, health care, entertainment, and the cosmetics industry. Women are responsible for half of the world’s food production; improving women’s health impacts the health of the whole family, especially children; and women in governance are more likely to ratify international environmental treaties and have inclusive climate policies.

Women face a range of challenges and roadblocks, including cultural barriers, educational and healthcare disparities, and a pervasive threat of gender-based violence. To add to that crushing list is the persistent gender pay gap. According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2024, India ranks 129th out 156 countries in terms of gender wage equality, having slipped two countries from previous year. Women also have to counter “glass ceilings” within management and disparity and underrepresentation in STEM remains an unsolved stubborn issue. Besides, the unpaid labour of caregiving falls disproportionately on women. Despite these challenges, women are successfully carving out their spaces in economic and social sectors by going above and beyond to not just survive but thrive.

There are several benefits to having more women in the workforce. Studies consistently show that female leaders benefit business. In addition to doubling a company’s talent pool, recruiting women increases financial performance. Fortune 500 companies with the highest percentage of women on boards report stronger financial performance. Women-led organizations consistently demonstrate higher returns on equity, greater financial stability, and improved stress resilience. In today’s world, women entrepreneurs have become an important part of the global business environment driving sustained economic development and social progress. Womenpreneurs are also environmental stewards in natural resource management and environmental conservation efforts. Working women achieve financial independence and gain more control over their lives. India has introduced finest women leaders including Ms. Kiran Bedi, Ms. Indira Nooyi, Mrs. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Falguni Nayar, etc. to name a few.

Indian Achievers’ Forum takes pride in celebrating awe inspiring women’ s achievements who are contributing towards social development and nation-building by achieving the extraordinary. With an intention to see more women in entrepreneurship, Indian Achiever’s Forum bestows such brave women with the Woman of Excellence Award to encourage and recognize women for their excellent performance and contribution in their respective fields. This initiative by Indian Achievers’ Forum anticipates a rise in “women participation” and fosters co-operation amongst the business community for collection and exchange of information.
