Union Minister for MSME Shri Narayan Rane aptly stated, “MSMEs are the backbone of our economy.” The entrepreneurship ecosystem thrives when MSMEs are supported and encouraged to run smoothly, fuelling the movements “Make in India” and “Made in India.” These enterprises are key to Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India), catalyzing economic growth. Moreover, the Indian Government is proactively encouraging youth to become employment providers rather than job seekers. Under MSMED Act and current leadership, numerous initiatives have been undertaken to create an environment conducive to the growth of MSMEs. MSMEs contribute substantially to the exports of the country, and these initiatives will not only bring synergy, but will also create a ripple effect throughout the country.
As of recent reports, the MSME contribution to GDP stands at around 30% of India’s total GDP and MSMEs’ unique feature is that they are widely dispersed across sectors of the economy producing a diverse range of products and services to meet local as well as global markets. Since a trend of rapid growth and development of the Indian economy is seen, there arises a need for a common platform where all the sections of the community can discuss the major issues and solutions of India’s economic growth.
