Dr. Dilip Kumar Chekuri – Transforming the MedTech Startup Ecosystem
Introducing the dynamic and innovative Dr. Dilip Kumar Chekuri. A biomedical technologist with over 18 years of experience, he has been a driving force in applying technology and innovation in the medical devices and manufacturing sector since 2010.
He began his remarkable journey with Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), Ministry of Health, Govt. of India, and further expanded his expertise through impactful roles with The World Bank for Uttar Pradesh Health Systems Strengthening Project (UPHSSP), Asian Development Bank (ADB), NUHM, and Ayushman Bharat-HWC Project.
Since 2016, he has been a key leader at Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), the world’s first integrated medical device manufacturing ecosystem, and Kalam Institute of Technology (KIHT). At KIHT, he played a crucial role in assisting the Bureau of Indian Standards in formulating 559 medical device standards and specifications for the Government-e-Marketplace (GeM).
Currently serving as Chief Executive Officer of Atal Incubation Center Niti Aayog MediValley-AMTZ, he has elevated MediValley to one of India’s top incubators. Under his leadership, MediValley has fostered numerous startups, enabling them to address critical health tech challenges through innovation. His contributions extend further as an adjunct technical expert and Chair of the Technical Committee for the Product Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for Medical Devices and four medical device parks under the Department of Pharma, Govt. of India.
His visionary leadership has driven the development of state-of-the-art testing facilities and the introduction of national standards for medical devices, enhancing India’s competitiveness in the global market. His relentless efforts have bridged critical gaps in testing and standardization, ensuring patient safety and high-quality manufacturing standards.
